Don't you have to wonder about official proposals for 40 years into the future, at a time when states are cutting back everywhere you look?

Hmm , i never replied for some reason... This decade looks grim in terms of large projects , however alot of smaller restorations and expansions will get built since there cheap. I think will see the push for larger expansions in the 2020s and 2030s... The Capacity upgrades will be done this decade like along the NEC and in NYC itself.

Nexus is insufficiently jaded. Give him time, it'll happen :-)

I'm surprised they stopped at only 2,050 plans. I'd have thought more like 10,000. After all if you are going to do nothing except raise fares you might as well "plan" all kinds of never happening things.

well the projects are divided between CT and NY for the MNRR and with PA , NY , NJ for NJT.... There mostly cheap projects averaging between 200-450 Million with the Exception of the Gateway and if the Cross Chester line gets some push both those projects are going to fall in the line of 13-15 Billion but provide Regional Relief. The Lackawanna railway is currently under Construction to Andover and PA by 2025. The Penn Station Access should start sometime after 2015 , along with the Glassboro LRT and Northern Branch LRT and a few added stations in NJ and CT.
