Default Scored an Interview!!! Suggestions for subleasing/weekly rated hotels?

I finally got a NY address on my resume this week. It only took about 2 days before I managed to arrange an interview with what sounds like a position that was made for me. I'm so excited and so very nervous. It sounds a bit silly having lived in LA for so long, but NY intimidates the hell out of me. Thankfully the place is within walking distance from Pen Station so I won't have to fret about learning the subways on my interview day.

Should I get this job, I'll need to find either a weekly rated hotel or I'll need to find a place I can sublease since, the only friend I have in NY lives on a college campus. Any suggestions on weekly rated hotels? Also.... how common is it for places around here to accept credit cards for deposits on apartments? Given my current situation, I don't exactly have loads of cash saved up for a new place. Do most places in and around NY require a pay stub that shows at least a months worth of work? We're actually looking at NJ for living arrangements. I don't think I could afford to live IN Manhattan for a few years.
