The YMCA is the latest gym to announce a branch in the rapidly growing Southern Bronx community of Melrose (the Hub area). They are taking space in the new "La Central' Development which is a massive mixed income residential and commercial development. The pics area amazing! http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/...icle-1.1559155

The new YMCA is joining Planet Fitness, Blink (subsidiary of Equinox), and most recently Crunch (inside the Opera House Hotel). I have not been to the new crunch yet but plan on going very soon.

I heard of a rumor about a nysc by 161st and a possible opening of a ballys fitness by West 149 near gateway. Just 5 years ago southern Bronx only had two gyms Lucille Roberts and St Mary's recreation center. It's nice that more gym branches are opening up in the area which reflects the the needs of health maintenance of its residents. I will check out crunch next week to take a weekly test drive.

Crunch is not so bad, I will most likely open a membership with crunch. So far its better than Planet Fitness, Blink is also not bad either. It looks like Sobroguy made an account and gets banned again. LOL
