Sexual predators going undetected in neighborhoods across the city - NY Daily News, A lot of posters always ask " Is this area safe" A lot of posters answer with shootings are down or homicides have dropped precipitously in that area. Sex offenders is overlooked a lot of times. This is especially geared towards families and single woman.
a guy i went to Social Work school with (he was kind of in our "clique") became a Level II SO. he committed the crime 18 months after we had graduated. Served 5 years in prison, parole ended a few years after release. I just could not believe what I was seeing on the internet.
there was always something "off" about the guy. he used to make perverted gestures in between classes if he thought a professor was attractive. he used to say how he could never work for an agency and instead only wants private practice. i always wondered if he ever got a job as a social worker in the 18 months prior to committing the crime
Your a 100% correct but look at certain areas. They light up like a Christmas Tree.
Sometimes the parolees are released to a halfway house and they use that halfway house as their registered address. I figured this out when I did a sex offender search for my zip code and a lot of them were at this one address that looked like a large Colonial house.

Except that a good number of them don't seem off to people. Just like most people don't expect most child molesters to be their relatives and/or close friends.
this guy i recall lived at home with his parents, his dad was recovering from a triple bypass and he frequently complained about his lot in life. i think that since his parole ended he opened up his own business. probably now making the $$ he wanted to make when we were studying to be social workers.
of all the fellow students i searched to see what they're up to, it looks like im the only one who remains an active social worker. everyone else retired, changed careers or became a SO!!
rllrl, you're not alone. I recently heard that my college roomate is a RSO. He's on the list in Florida for molesting young girls. He didn't show any signs when I knew him. Had girlfriends his own age, etc. Only thing weird about him was he made a big deal about nobody touching his belongings.
