Doing that once a month is enough to drive somebody to murder. What I'm getting at is, grocery shopping in this city without a car is a goddamn disaster. Especially in manhattan...

A single person can do it......but a family, highly doubtful. I know there's no way we could go grocery shopping for my fam without our car. Although there is one supermarket around my way that will put you and your groceries in a van to anywhere you live in the Rockaways with a $200+ purchase.
