Now that the 25MPH speed limit is the law unless otherwise noted. I have yet to see any difference. Taxis still zoom by atleast 30-40mph in the avenues unless stuck in traffic.
I still drive exactly the same. That's why Bloomberg recently used it as an example of a stupid law. If there are no cars on Northern Blvd I go at least 40+ like everyone else. You have to be careful though, they've installed speeding cameras. My neighborhood civic association was sending out an email alert about how they installed one coming off an exit on the LIE. People are complaining about how it's unsafe to slow down fast coming off the highway to meet whatever speed it's set to catch you at.

And that's why the WISEST move is to eliminate the taxis, ALL taxis by whatever name. You want to get around in New York, buy a Metrocard or stay home.

Not really a practical suggestion for older people carrying heavy bags for example.
It's like no texting or using your phone while driving. I see cops EVERY DAY on their phones while driving. Laws are only as good as the enforcement behind them.
I haven't changed my driving habits at all. No issues yet, I haven't noticed anyone around my area driving slower either, I don't drive fast but I'm def over 25 at almost all times
