shopping from desk at work "on line" is the best thing that has ever happened to us men, since most of us hate shopping with a passion.
"online" always has my size, always in the color I want, always in stock.
no people to annoy me, no lines to wait on, and it gets delivered to my office and I bring it home.
don't even have to go to store.
I already admit that NYC is better than Philadelphia--I'm not the biggest fan of Philly. I just think its hilarious how you're in a city that you basically worship on all fours, yet come onto this forum to troll.
Macys, Barneys, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, Bergdorf Goodman, et al!
And that's not including places like Cartier, Brioni, Bulgari, Ferragamo, et al on 5th!
And we are getting a Nordstrom in 2018. Neiman Marcus is opening its first Manhattan store within the next 3-5 years, as well!
Retailers recognize that this is the world capital!
And oh, yeah, we have FAO Schwarz, Toys R Us, and are in the process of getting a Hamleys!
And we have M&Ms World, The Disney Store, and The Hershey's Store!

I have to disagree. NYC USED TO be the shopping capital, when the city was home to a lot of small boutique and independent designers. Because the city is no longer affordable, many designers have left and shops have closed. The stores you have listed are all chain stores found in anywhere, USA and/or brands that many people can't afford.
ONLINE SHOPPING is the MECCA of shopping IMO. NYC can't compete . I find that most stores stock the same items with limited choices,,,not so online where the sky is the limit.
I hardly every buy anything besides cologne in NYC.

Tom Ford does not sell clothing online, for instance. The Madison Avenue boutique is the U.S. flagship, and it's heaven. The only other boutique that carries the full line is Tom Ford on Sloane Street in London. Ditto Hermes, Louis Vuitton RTW, Lanvin, Brioni, Giorgio Armani, Prada. Not to mention, Chanel and other haute couture lines for the ladies. The high-fashion has not fully embraced e-commerce. And not only clothing - it obviously extends to art. And high end jewelry and watches.
And besides, there is nothing more relaxing than being dropped off in front of Begdorf Goodman and being escorted into the private room with champaign waiting for you.
I truly feel sorry for people who don't live in iconic cities like New York and London. I always wonder how such people manage.
