I wonder how many of Garner's "customers" were kids under 18. (I would guess quite a few.) Was he checking IDs? (I would guess not.) And who else buys "loosies"? Winos, junkies, crackheads? I would think that this business of selling "loosies" on a commercial street in front of stores operated by hard working people struggling to make an honest living is a little more serious than just a harmless nuisance.
He should not have been killed for his crime. Is this The U.S. or China? Scary how NYPD supporters want to impose a police state. This forum is becoming Anti-American. Protests will continue.
My father was a Mahattan native and moved to S.F.in the 60's. I lived in Manhattan for over15 years but never heard anyone use the word, skell. Maybe we run in different social circles.
Yet "loosies" is a term you're familiar and comfortable with. I'm certain we do run in different social circles.
Oh boy, where to start? There should have been a grand jury indictment. Also, isn't the term, "spouting off"a term drunks and wife beaters use before they go into a rage? Maybe you don't like women with a different opinion than yours. Just saying...
I really don't know. Is that what your boyfriends or husbands used to say to you before slapping you around for getting out of line?
Garner wasnt murdered because he was selling cigarettes. He was killed because as a consequence of his resisting arrest, he was put in a dangerous situation that was exacerbated because he was massively obese. Poor life decisions led this man to believe that he could ignore a lawful order of a law enforcement officer. Poor life decisions also probably led this man to being overly obese and living a life of petty crime.
Garner was killed because some cops like to take the easy route. Garner wasn't a real criminal. He was a nuisance at worst.
The cops know where the real criminals are yet they don't go after them. Why? Because that's actually dangerous. Just like in any job, many employees always take the easy route.
The PBA and many cops play a game. Those of us who've lived in NYC for a while know the game they play. NYPD upper management/ command also knows but they always risk the PBA inciting a mutiny against them by their foot soldiers. The problem is that the NYPD has almost nearly 35k cops and 51k employees total. It's a mafia.

31 arrests and convictions isn't a real criminal? Esaw "Pinky" Garner is that you?? That's exactly what the Garner family has been claiming. It's hysterical.
