yea like can I afford to go shopping at decent stores and go out once in a while,? or will i constantly have to chk my account

That depends on how you spend your money. you gave very Little details for anyone to answer your question correctly. The short answer is yes if you live within your means. I make around what you make, live in a rego park coop and have a child as well and I'm doing alright.

I think the OP could easily afford to live in Forest Hills/Rego Park or Kew Gardens with that income and be able to go out occasionally and shop at decent stores when necessary.
