They went with Philly: First on CNN: Philadelphia wins bid to host the 2016 Democratic National Convention - CNN.com

While having the DNC (or any major party convention for that matter) in NYC would have been great from my view, I'm not too disappointed by this decision as I also didn't want to have to deal with the security headache since I live so close to Barclays Center.

Since the Democrats have dissed NYC, NYC should diss them back. Don't vote for them, don't contribute to them. Give them the complete cold shoulder.

That'll teach 'em.

Philly is actually "the new Brooklyn" as I've been hearing.

But isn't Brooklyn the new Manhattan?

I imagine they need to keep the appearance the party is for the poor and disenfranchise. Brooklyn is too popular and has too many affluent people.

Philly is a better balances for history, economics of the city, demographics, etc...

A lot of NY companies and residents priced out of the city have moved to Philadelphia and help it in its resurgence, taking with them their talents, jobs and money. This is not counting the people that in the past might have chosen to come to NY but now have totally bypass it altogether.

Philly's gain is New York's loss.

It's just another failure in a long line of failures for deBlasio. The word is out on our Mayor and the word is that he is an incompetent clown. How this can not be seen as yet another failure for deBlasio after how hard he pushed for the DNC and came up short is just mind boggling. NYC is supposed to be the progressive capitol of the world according to deBlasio's world view, but apparently the national Democratic party does not share the same view.

Another way to spin it is "One man's trash is another man's treasure".

Also, Obama had trouble with blue collar white voters in states like PA, that's why they need to go there to shore up the base.
