Does anyone know why it's taking 4 years just to get an interview? Is there something I should be doing? Like calling the contact center daily and harass them. Because I really don't understand why its taking so long.

More and more people are applying for nycha so its become harder and harder to get an apt. Plus many people get in and dont ever leave. What is your priority? I believe you get one faster if you are a victim of domestic violence. Other than that you just have to wait it out. On their website it says to call once every 2 months. Have you reapplied like the website also says to do?

Like the person above said. People never leave. New York City is ridiculously expensive and for the low income to middle class people, NYCHA is kind of the affordable choice in this economy. I'd never move in to a nycha development for the simple fact that I don't think nycha has a future. I'd try my luck elsewhere like upstate where I currently live now. Such a big budget-fall, cheap rent that's not enough to care for the deteriorating buildings. It's just a hot mess. Plus NYCHA has a weird way of how they select and place their tenants ftI've noticed. An old time drug dealer who lived across the hall from a relative of mine finally croaked in the summer of last year, and the apartment still has not been cleared out and remains vacant. Such a long waiting list you would think that apartment would be cleared and rented by now. Hang in there, I believe you will get called soon.
