Yeah, it's a New York thing. When I first arrived in New York (via everywhere else in the USA---almost) I ordered a regular coffee...backwards, but still I got a coffee regular. I knew about coffee regular and what it contained, but I figured one still had to delineate regular or decaf---and regular is just non-decaf to me. Ever since, it is "coffee, black".

The coffee thing is still weird to me. It always will be. I just order it black now to avoid any confusion.
