It looks like a pretty nice neighborhood. This is just about a block away. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ca...41b7a9!6m1!1e1

And also at least there were a lot of good samaritans coming to the rescue. Still, what that woman was doing with unleashed attack dogs who had (according to the news) been menacing in the weeks before, I have no idea. Maybe the neighborhood is bad -- sometimes in bad neighborhoods people put up with a lot of crap when in better neighborhoods residents would be calling 311, 911 and their local city councilor at the first sign of trouble.

BBBBut " MY pit bull is a SWEETHEART ". Since all pit bulls are "sweethearts" where do the bad ones come from ?

Ban the breed for once and for all.

Woman has a rap sheet longer than your arm and seems to be some piece of work. Happily in this case she remains jailed in lieu of bail.

Mr. Bove is an European immigrant (from years ago now) who seems to have been up there doing research on restoring an old church and this is the thanks he gets from that piece of garbage woman. Thank God others on that street and area are outstanding persons and rose to the situation.

What an ignorant comment. These dogs were obviously bred and trained for fighting by a criminal. Any dog can be bred and trained to be vicious. Pit bulls just happen to be a dog with a long history of being bred to fight. A dog is an animal, not a human being. They do not reason, and when they are not trained properly, they do what their instincts dictate them to. Dachshund and Chihuahuas are hardly ever trained because of their size, and studies have shown that it is these small breeds that are the most aggressive. However, because of their small size, the bites from these dogs never make the headlines.

There are dogs with higher prey drives than the pit bull, there are dogs more aggressive than the pit bulls, there are dogs stronger than the pit bull. That doesn't make them bad dogs, they are just dogs, and if we humans mean to keep them as pets then we should do our part and train them properly.

First thing is first. The city needs to make measures of what breeds of dogs certain citizens can own. Landlords also need to enforce whether or not certain breeds can live in dwellings of their tenants. The city should also pass permits for folks who own dogs like pitbulls, Dobermans. In much of the city, mainly in low income areas, people can not afford certain breeds of dogs and pitbulls are the most affordable option. Even in the housing projects, plenty of folks in these places own pitbulls. Pitbulls should be banned from the city. I can understand that pitbulls can be loyal dogs, but it really takes lots of love and caring to train a pitbull. Lately I have been seeing plenty of folks even in my area unleash their pitbulls with the assumption oh my dog is good and well trained.

There must be a crackdown on the "informal" breeding of these dogs in certain neighborhoods - I know for a fact that it happens around here and have heard stories about other areas from residents. Breeding takes place in basements and the puppies are sold for a few hundred dollars - or even several hundreds, apparently depending.

The people who would do or support this are the same people who would train these poor dogs to attack and kill.

The public should also be educated about the signs of this.

Exactly.

Sadly, the city shelter death list is mostly pitbulls or mixes every night.
