I used to work in Long island City in 1979 '80 and '81. Was nearby Astoria Greek all the way back then? I worked at 30th street between 38th and 39th avenue in LIC, what was the ethnic background back then? Im guessing Irish/German?
Flushing is overrun these days by Asian gangs and the NYPD seem so clueless it's kind of pathetic
back in the 90's to early 2000 there were a lot of Asian gangs in Chinatown and Flushing. didn't know there were still..what kind of things have been happening in Flushing? street fights? stabbings? shootings?
Flushing has NOT always been Asian. The name Flushing derives from a Dutch word, and it's one of the oldest towns in NYC. I went to high school with many kids from Flushing and it was majority white until the early 80's.
I'm curious about this talk of Asian gang violence. I visit Flushing pretty often but have never lived there. From my visits, I haven't noticed much of a presence so I'm curious about all this.
The Asian gang violence is confined to the various Asian ethnic populations. Not much of a concern for the round eyes.
Flushing started to shift to a majority Oriental population in the early 1990s.
The round eyes? Oriental?
