Victim was white. Criminal was 18-year-old Christopher Jackson, but no photo of this adult in the news story. And no mention of his race. Thus I assume he was black.
Had a white man set a black man on fire, it'd be a national news story. There'd be outrage and riots.
Glad I moved out of NYC 30 years ago. It improved during Rudy's term, but I hear from friends who still live there, it's gotten really bad since DeBlasio took over.
Wow! You must really miss New York if your still following local news and posting on a New York internet message board even though you moved out 30 YEARS AGO. This story is as under the radar as you can get.
Where you live must really suck, huh? I'm sorry about that.

Pretty much. Every now and then you see someone post a news story on here and then end with "I left 30 years ago...thank god I did!"...it's kind of ridiculous. The story is just so they can vent. I don't even know what's happening in my hometown that I left a long time ago, nor do I go on forums saying thank god I left!

I don't miss NYC. But I still have friends and family there, and I visit frequently. I was last there in 2013.
I live in Santa Monica, CA, which is where I've lived for the past 30 years. I live 10 minutes from the Pacific Ocean. It's a nice area, though I have been considering another move, possibly to Seattle.
The story is not "under the radar." It's on the Drudge Report. So it's gonna get some major media attention over the next few days, most likely on Fox News and talk radio.
Oh the DRUDGE REPORT? Why didn't you say so?!?? Under the radar this is not, which is why it's a CBS local news exclusive.
I just want to paint this picture; So you reading the drudge report following up on your trump news, see an article about an incident in a city where you haven't lived in for 30 years. Your first response is to run to an internet message board and tell people who currently live in that city how happy you are that you moved out of the city 3 decades ago.
Actually, Reagan was in his second term when I left.
If that's the only thing that doesn't make sense in that scenario, that you are kinda proving my point.
