Yes. I'm one of them.

If I had had a reasonable SRO to stay in I wouldn't be in this predicament. The woman I was paying rent to stopped paying the landlord. There's no legal protection at all for room renters.

Euthanasia should be legal and readily available for the homeless besides those who are chronically depressed and terminally ill.

Put them out of their misery in the most pain-free way possible.

That's one thing these greasy corrupt politicians will never talk about because they'd rather use these people as either guinea pigs and/or tax paying slaves, keeping them alive suffering for the benefit of others.

So murder them, plain and simple because you're too cheap to pay taxes.

Of course one day you'll be old and sick, supported by the government via social security and medicare. Or will you commit suicide before old age.

Sounds like "Soylent Green."

Some people in the "system" had regular lives and paid taxes into the Treasury for decades.

Terminally ill, that's one thing. But some people are "depressed" because they've still got useful work in them and there don't seem to be any damn jobs.

Mental health issues are real and some of these people need help. Some are just lazy. When I was in my early 20s. I had 3 plans, while working/studying full time and taking every federal, state, city, mta job tests. I lived in then unsexy ENY saving towards a home. I knew something would work out eventually.

Fast forward 10 years later, it did. I don't have to worry about anyone's rent increases and I have a secure job that offers a pensions.

There are jobs out there. It may not be in NYC.

Apply for every position. Get a skill/trade. No able bodied person is entitled to subsidized housing.

God helps those who help themselves.
You can read, write and be on the internet you can learn a skill or improve your earning potential.

I have multiple skills. I apply for everything imaginable I could do. Can't get a nibble.

Yes, well; I'm not in my 20's. Or 30something, like you. I'm pushing 60. That's part of the problem.

What gives NYC the right to dump their homeless population to Jersey? Or anywhere else really? You're just shifting the problem around. Homeless ARE better off in NYC, or LA, or SF. Personally I think everyone who makes over 100K a year and owns a house in these three cities should be forced to house homeless, at least one or two, in their spare bedrooms. If it's not a spare bedroom? too bad. You love living in the city so much, do your part and walk the walk instead of just talking.
Who said anything about "dumping" anyone. Giving people housing vouchers is not "dumping" but actually solving the problem by making the homeless not homeless. By what objective measure is a homeless person better off here or in LA than say Dallas or Denver? Your idea is a non-starter as people will abandon NYC in droves in that case and before you rub your hands in glee of lower rent keep in mind they'll take pretty much all the cultural/economic/social energy with them. The immigrants will stop coming too. Notice how no one immigrates to Cleveland or Baltimore..There goes the cultural diversity...

This insistence by certain left wing circles that NYC should morph into some kind of poverty paradise is not only wrong but immoral. For the money spent housing someone in NYC you could house 3 someone's somewhere else. I fail to see how that's anything other than shortsighted at best and putting ideology above compassion at worst.

You should focus ur anger at ronnie reagan. He closed down a bunch of mental hospitals which made the homelessness problem alot worse than it already was....
