Would you live in the private community of Forest Hills Gardens, in Forest Hills, Queens? It is a private owned community and there are certain restrictions in the area. Would you live there? Me personally, if I had money, I would, but I don't like to be bossed around by a group of people who own the area.
Yes! Its a beautiful area... I used to live a few blocks away many moons ago and loved being close to great restaurants/transportation. I also believe the school district is excellent.
Yes, in fact I might make the jump as there are a good number of affordable coops in the area. I wish studio square or w/e that area near the LIRR train had better maint costs (there's people there paying more in maint than I do to rent in the LES in Manhattan), but it is what it is.
Yes if I had the financial resources. It is a beautiful area although I would want to be closer to the Queens Blvd. side which walking distance to public transportation options.
Before you buy a home there, beware that it is a private subdivision with exorbitant association fees which can cost higher than suburban real estate taxes. I would not want to own a home there unless i had a good reason to have a very nice home in a good looking neighborhood, such as executives in businesses who need to host client dinners.

It shows. I'd imagine the association costs would be high given how well maintained the area appears.
Me personally, I'd take the Gardens over the suburbs.

The amenities dont justify the association fees which can run to the tens of thousands. Unlike the suburbs, there are no comprehensive recreation facilities, no town parks, no dedicated libraries, no guaranteed MS-12 placement. Hence financially, FH Gardens is not a good idea.

The FHG association fees are not very high at all. For example, it's only $1073/year for this 3654 sq ft house.
The townhouses in your link are part of the gardens, but not everything Tudor style is in the gardens. The Van Court area south of the gardens is also mostly Tudor style single-family houses.
