Apparently they ran out of room in Brooklyn! Hassidic clans are trying to buy out whole neighborhoods in upstate and in NJ. God bless these people for moving into blighted neighborhoods and buying up row after row of boarded up houses. That's really amazing when you think about it, overnight COMPLETELY changing an area
what they are doing is maintaining segregation, like all other neighborhoods in nyc. If more groups dared to take this plunge, it has to be advertised properly, and the population moving will need jobs. Jobs that are big on Internet, or that require the occasional ride to the city , would be the big draw.
This ain't nothing new. Other groups are making/have made the switch, because of cost, and integration in otherwise dying communities. I am sure there are areas along the east coast where certain ethnicity have made a home for themselves.
there was a time in this country where people kept in touch, and spread the word, housing is cheap. there are jobs!
They're buying blighted neighborhoods in NJ. They are renovating homes and renting boarded up stores. Any way one looks at it, it's a step up for a blighted neighborhood.
Its not because they ran out of room. The article stated this is due to them having been priced out. This is the same reason they moved to rockland, oc, and southern nj.

Have you seen Hasidic neighborhoods?
That part of Williamsburg is disgusting looking. The architecture is ugly, and they don't know how to properly throw away trash

It is no more disgusting than its surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods such as Southside, Bed-Stuy, Bushwick, etc... I'd actually say its less disgusting for the most part.
What they do to the upstate and NJ towns' tax base is the real issue. Lakewood, NJ is finally smartening up and taking a stand against their corruption. No more filling the school board so they can siphon public funds to religious schools. No more busing scams to steal money. No more $1.4 million homes where all the residents are on food stamps. Etc, etc, etc.
Unfortunately quite a few beautiful upstate areas are now off of my list because I have no interest in paying taxes that are being used in shady ways to support only one constituency. I had to sell hunting land I owned because of school taxes that shot up as soon as a Jewish school was built and they got the school board under their control. Most of the kids they claimed funds for were in Brooklyn M-F yet somehow most of the school funds ended up in Hasidic hands to be spent how they saw fit. And no one says a word because of the attack dogs they employ.

Little known fact, you know that "Kars 4 Kids" jingle and car donation program? It is 100% used to fund Hassidic children's programs. Good luck finding any Hassidic kids in any of the commercials though
