The property I am waiting to be approved for by HPD is an old building that was restored 3-4 years ago. Does this play part in how long it takes to hear back? Considering it isn't newly built property.


Also, from my understanding I am the only one whose seen the apt in a long time. Those who viewed it before me did not want it. I was hoping this would make the wait time a lot shorter.

It depends. New construction = less waiting time. Old construction = more waiting time if and only if it's already occupied and apartments were renovated while tenants lived in surrounding units.

Gut renovation is the equivalent of less waiting time, although other factors come into play: For instance, the length of construction (i.e. permits, etc.) and/or how big the building is.

The building isn't a newly constructed building. The apt isn't "new" either.


The management company sent my app to the city for approval. Does the fact that the property isn't new play any part? since no one else has wanted this apt, does it make for a quicker approval from the city?
