The plethora of 24/7 restaurants around me (NE Queens). Nothing beats the convenience of being able to choose from and sit down at a variety of full service restaurants even 2am on Sunday morning. Other things are the huge huge variety of supermarkets and grocery stores accessible within minutes. Within 5 mins of where I am there are at least 7 or 8 large supermarkets of different varieties from cheap to moderately expensive from ethnic to non-ethnic. Having access within minutes to anything from goji berries to organic grass fed ribeye makes living regular life so easy and convenient. I don't think anywhere else in the US comes even close to this.

I have never been to Chicago (except to change planes on the way to somewhere else). I was thinking mainly about international destinations in terms of NYC having more than one major airport hub.

I like that it doesn't really feel like America.
It feels least like America of any place here that I've lived.

For me it’s the opposite. I lived in NYC for 36yrs and moved to Florida’s gulf coast last year. I much prefer the tranquility and better QOL of where I now live, yet I’m only a 2hr flight away when i want to come back and visit.

NYC like Las Vegas is now my wknd playground.

I know, who even thinks about elevators? Until there aren't any. I was in a law firm here, two stories tall, with an elevator (first I've seen since leaving NYC) and a lawyer and his two non-English-speaking Mexican clients got in the elevator, lawyer was called back and got out, and the clients went upstairs and never came back. Turns out they had no idea how to use an elevator, never having seen one before, and someone had to go and get them. It made me realize I've been taking elevators of every kind all my life and I suddenly realized I can't think how far I'd have to drive to find one. (I also hate driving.)

Theater, Museums, Lincoln Center, cheap transportation, no car, restaurants, and Mitchell-Lama housing...and elevators, and mild weather.

I like after there is snowfall in Manhattan and schools close down and it slows everything down for the day.

They didn't know how to operate an elevator? Even outside of NYC there are elevators. What a special kind of stupid.
