I am weighing a decision on relocating from Buffalo to come to NYC and take a job at NYU Langone.
I have my sights set on somewhere in Brooklyn, haven't quite narrowed it down yet.
I will be making around 33/hr and will probably make around 65-70K per year. I project to have around 3500-3700 per month after taxes. Is this sufficient enough to make a living on in NYC if I get a roommate and split costs in Brooklyn, or anywhere in NYC?

Should be doable. Assuming you'll be at Langone on First Ave in the 20s, keep in mind the upcoming L shutdown (as one of the closer subway options to Langone) if you are looking at parts of Williamsburg served primarily by that train.
They didn’t ask about the Bronx or queens. Also that’s an area already gentrified with decent rentals. Close to the park, Brooklyn museum, and downtown Brooklyn.
He won’t find a better location that’s convenient below a $2500 price range
Brooklyn Heights would be a much easier commute than Crown Heights with all of the subway lines. There are apartments around $1900 now. Granted they are studios, but they cost under $2300 and in some cases under $1900.
@OP - It is more than enough, but only if you have a roommate and your rent is reasonable. Your rent for splitting a 2 bedroom should not be more than 1K per person. The lower the better, and you can't have any credit card or school loan debt. Otherwise, you can't really live comfortably because the rent will be 1K which leaves you with $900 left over from your 2 week paycheck aftwr taxes before you get paid again in 2 weeks.
It'll all add up. Also, you want to be able to put a decent amount in your savings account and 401K. Good luck!
