W. 4th and that one by Penn Station are/were the worst in terms of dirt/crime/mayhem. W. 4th was like a portal into another universe.

I went into there once, it was a bit scary.

I didn't think it was all that scary (pre-covid) just really, really busy & messy. Don't know how it is now...
