^ It's NYC under de Blasio, that money would be wasted anyway, on frivolous stuff. At least with this, we get additional transportation options.

This increasingly seems more like a hand-job for luxury developers. The streetcar won't really benefit existing commuters but will provide a new line for affluent residents to avoid rubbing elbows with the poor masses on the MTA.

I'd be OK with the line if it was entirely funded by a mix of private & Federal dollars. Ownership should be in private hands. It would help spur move development which means more tax paying citizens. But the reality will be vastly over budget and the gaps covered by the city followed by the city spending millions to subsidize the operation.
