Hi All..
Is there anyone out there that already made the move from the UK to Manhatten or knew of anyone and their experiences. I am divorced and looking to start a new life, one other pull is that I do like the American guys, does anyone have any advice on the dating scene for us mature ladies.
It is almost impossible to get a work visa, so you may want to think abut relocating somewhere else in Europe. By all means, talk to a US immigration lawyer, but outside of close family connections or a marriage, work visas are very hard unless you have a marketable skill.
Hilarious, my spelling was never my strong point.. I don't have a work permit, some one told me I was allowed to say not more than 90 days at a time.
or I could start a business there and get a 2 year work permit.
I understand your need for change, but I would relocate somewhere in Europe, where you have important things like good health care for a reasonable price. I don't know how Brexit affects your ability to move to say, France, but it would be much easier than coming here. It's easy to get a romantic notion of New York "where everything is possible" when you're living elsewhere. It's very tough to earn a living here. Go to France, go the the Netherlands, go to Italy, go to Spain. Anywhere but here. Or come for a 90-day stay, and then decide. Good luck.
I'm not sure it makes sense for someone to move to a new country specifically to look for a significant other. And do you know that the ratio of men/women in NYC is particularly poor.
But I think you need to be worrying about other things - for instance, do you have a large stash of money to finance yourself here?
Europe is totally different to the states, why would anyone want to live in France, the french are not very warm generally.
I actually don't like Europe. London I love but has lost its charm, too over run with too many immigrants, am I allowed to say that on here?
Re dating.. I thought the American men liked English women?
You're allowed to say whatever you like. The last time I checked, we were still living in a democracy. But if you don't like immigrants, why do you think you'd be happy and comfortable in New York? I respect your decision to, as I believe you said, "start over," but you're not thinking it through.
I lived in France for a long time, and I would disagree with your tired stereotype, but that's not really the issue here.
