I was reading how Paris is thinking of having free public transportation.

https://www.citylab.com/transportati...or-all/560522/

One way to pay for this is having congestion charges in where the more you drive the more you will be charged. They operate kind of as tolls where they have something to measure the distance you drove on the roads. London is famous for already have that type of system.

Do you think this is a possibility that NYC should look into? Why or why not?

A good portion of the people currently aren't paying now so why not? What's happening now is the people that do pay are paying for those that don't.

The minute NYC tries to tax me further to provide free public transportation is the minute I retire, sell my house and move.

Not only shouldn't it be free, it should be more expensive (to, like, pay for what it costs to provide the service.)

There's no such thing as a free lunch.

They claim they don’t even make enough money now to pay for operating cost and maintenance.

We get 60 million tourist a year who ride our public transportation. Along with 6 million commuters daily, yet MTA is still broke

Our taxes won’t even cover the light bill
