I used to really only appreciate tenements and high rises as far as urban housing goes, but lately I've been finding blocks like these aesthetically pleasing. I really don't know why. Some would say this the worst of both worlds, I bet.

South Jamaica and South Ozone Park seem to have a lot of these. Springfield Gardens too in some parts.

I also like blocks made up of barely detached single family houses (separated by one car's width)

Uh detached..Less than a driveways width between them yet they all have driveways with cars lol

I do see some advantages of this layout, though.

You can have your own single family house, but the backyard and front yard are very small so the maintenance on these is minimal. And you may or may not have a driveway.

And this layout is dense enough to be quite urban and walkable.

Okay I simply misunderstood the term then. But functionally, it's damn near the same thing as a semidetached since the only thing between them is a narrow walkway
