View Poll Results: How do you monitor your AC usage?
Bish, it's too hot to "monitor" usage. I blast it 24/7, no breaks here. 9 20.45%
I keep the AC running most of the day, even if I'm not home. 7 15.91%
I'll occasionally leave it running if I'm not home, otherwise it's only on when I'm home. 10 22.73%
It's never really running when I'm not home. I use a timer / smartphone app to control remotely a little before or after I leave home. 18 40.91%

LOL!! Skin and bones with no fat for insulation.

Last fireworks display parties for me.
I had the option of the bus or the subway yesterday. Guess which one I opted for...

It is not insulation so much as skinny people tend to eat less, thus less fuel burning, thus less body heat generated.

I know a lot of fat people who don't eat much (but very sedentary). Always cold.

Contrarily, everyone I work with, very labor intensive job, is physically fit, we eat a lot, always warm.

It is about fuel burning, not insulation.

Who told you that, because it just is not universally true.

Over the years both family and socially have known plenty of skinny persons that eat fat people under the table, and not gain weight. Have several female cousins (and a few males) that fit this bill. Kind of people that load up two, three or more plates at Thanksgiving or a BBQ and *still* have room for desert.

Everyone is different; some people simply have metabolisms that run on *high* and or otherwise burn off extra calories rather easily.

Are you high? Please don't fill people with lies.
I'm skinny and eat as much as a bear. I'm also physically fit, eat a lot but not always warm. Being warm or cold is not about how much or little you eat. Please go back to health class.

Parochial school had no air conditioning either. I DIDN'T survive. Worse though was the 100 degree classrooms in January.

Nice anecdote. Thermogenesis is affected by your basal metabolic rate, exercise, and the amount and macronutient makeup of the food you eat.

Google Specific Dynamic Action (SDA) and Dietary Induced Thermogenesis (DIT) or check out these studies:

Granata, G. P.; Brandon, L. J. (2002). "The Thermic Effect of Food and Obesity: Discrepant Results and Methodological Variations". Nutrition Reviews. 60 (8): 223–233. doi:10.1301/002966402320289359. PMID 12199298

Glickman, N; Mitchell, HH (Jul 10, 1948). "The total specific dynamic action of high-protein and high-carbohydrate diets on human subjects" (PDF). The Journal of Nutrition. 36 (1): 41–57. PMID 18868796

You need to study fitness and nutrition, both of which I have.

Got my Con ED bill today, Probably only covered about 10 days of me using my AC on this billing cycle and it was $20 some more then usually. So if the next two months stay hot, I'll pay about $60 more then normal for con ed which is fine with me. Would rather be comfortable and pay a little then be miserable and cheap as b__p. Yay for AC!
