In order to be licensed by the state, in recent years teachers have training on how to spot and report abuse (physical or sexual) as teachers are mandated reporting. Also teachers have to take a workshop on bullying (students can be bullied at school by other students or even by school state at times) and how to respond to bullying or fights.

Implicit bias training was always the next step, and in the workshops teachers for their masters programs there's already workshops that confront various kinds of biases teachers may have. As teachers are teaching students from a variety of backgrounds, different students will pose different challenges.

It isn't.

You've never worked in education and don't know the issues involved there.

Example, someone assumes because someone has a Latino name that they need ESL classes. Meanwhile that child speaks little Spanish, the person in the school system while processing the child made an ASSUMPTION without bothering to confirm.

That's implicit bias.

Absolutely. The PD's version is downright insulting.

That's implicit bias.
That's actually ordinary (explicit) bias. Implicit bias is about unconscious biases which somehow affect our decisionmaking without us being aware of them. Problem is.... the studies showing an effect just don't reproduce.

This is the problem with the educational system.
There is more literature written on how to fix the problem
than the actual solution.
Stop beating around the bush.
Socialized education is an utter failure.
Act the leader and apply your knowledge.

As a former adult educator,
I ran class with an iron fist.
I fulfilled the curriculum.
The test scores spoke volumes.
Those that needed extra help got it.
Yes, on my own unpaid time.
Those that did not care fell to wayside
under their own weight.
Approximately 8 failed my class
out of 400 students total.

Plain and simple.
