Ridgewood is basically the nicer part of Bushwick.

Bushwick definitely has ugly houses, those rebuild era rowhomes for instance

Oh yeah, those. Not many of them in Ridgewood.

Some old trivia I remember; correct me if I'm wrong

Bushwick ave was once referred to as millionaires row.
Former mayors and dignitaries presided.

Ridgewood once held the most bars in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Knitting mills placed a close second.

Ridgewood does have some not beautiful rowhomes in the Western portion, though. I'm not a fan of those presumably 50s ones with the huge front lawn and baxk driveway.

Those definitely aren't what Ridgewood is known for. It is known for their brick rowhouses. The driveway ones are found often in Middle Village.

Bushwick is more so known for 6 unit tenement buildings. But both have both.

It's a small section, true.

Those look too nice to be tenements. I wouldn't be surprised if they were built for people fleeing the tenements of Manhattan at the tine.

I think both neighborhoods have a ton of both 6 (or 8) unit buildings as well as 2-3 family brick rowhouses. And at least in Bushwick there are 3-5 family buildings as well.

Lots of similarities, just different proportions.

In general though, Bushwick and Ridgewood both developed off upward mobility from the LES and Williamsburg. Then from there, further upward mobility into Glendale and Middle Village. After that it was off to Long Island.

I was only there once.
But Ridgewood seemed nicer to me than Bushwick.

It is. It's a good neighborhood for the most part. I miss it.
