Went into local RA for milk because they have lowest price in area. Well make that *HAD*, as they've jacked up prices about five percent. So a half gallon that was $2.69 is now $3.09. Not a huge increase, but since Associated is still at $2.69, will be getting our milk and other dairy there or elsewhere in future.

Store is under renovation so didn't walk around to see what other prices have jumped, but am assuming it is all over. When Walgreens got their mitts on Duane Reade their prices went up as well, so am not holding out much hope for RA whoever now owns the stores in NYC.

Stop & Shop
CVS
Walmart
Local Deli's

There are a ton of places with prices that will rock your socks.
You just need to get out there and get involved in comparative shopping.

I could get milk cheaper at WAWA, but am not driving all the way to Jersey for a half gallon of milk.

I know the prices of milk in my area which is why RA was the default go to place.

Local delis do not sell dairy anywhere near cheaply as RA or even Duane Reade (more expensive). CVS is several blocks away and might as well go to Associated which is on same block and where (again) milk is still rather cheap.

CVS Rite Aide Duane Reade all have bad prices on anything except select items on sale if you sign up for their stupid card. I don't use those pharmacies so there's no reason for me to go there. Bad customer service and long lines. They are not as bad in other states but in NY these chains are terrible and need to shut down.

A nice new Market on 92nd and First, called "Gourmet something-or-other" has been offering weekend specials that always include
Milk: $2.99/gallon.
Extra Large Eggs: $.99/dozen. (but $1.09 last weekend)
Celery $.99
and a couple others including at least 2 deli items.

Partner just told me that they expanded the sale to "all the time."

Shoot
I was in Rite Aid I was looking for razors to shave with - it was something like $42.99 for a little package! It's no better anywhere else I go like CVS or even El Mundo places they keep em behind the counter like they are gold or something....

Finally.... One smart shopper.
My wallet contains plastic ( not credit cards ) for just about every shopping experience.
Stop & Shop alone , with their store card, this year , I have saved over $1,500 dollars.
I fill up on gas every 1 or 2 weeks averaging $.20 cents less than posted. If the gas station bumps
up their price I gas up elsewhere for cheap all the while build up my shopping points and then
bang out with $.50 .60 up to .70 cents off per gallon. It's all about smart shopping. The savings are
there if you just make the time. After a while, what was first annoying becomes just a normal way of life.
P.S. need to give credit to the my wife who is the Queen of shopping.......I'm just the driver. L.O.L.

Rite Aid still seems to offer more than CVS even though they are high.

Have you checked around, though? Trader Joe's milk prices just went up. Unfortunately, the New York department that regulates milk has kind of lost their grip.
