The day of reckoning is coming to NYC home values. Everyone knows it except for those owners who want to hold the property values by denying the fact. No person would deal with a city where the owners of Real estate have to pay for everyone else to act lazy smoke weed and just enjoying the fruits of other people’s labor.

I love it. I hate rooting against my hometown city but I am. This city has left the middle class natives behind. Those it hasn't chased out yet. The best part is NE Queens home values never go down significantly, even in the bad ole days they remained high. Just keep those Chinese buyers coming.

The government could subsidize the landlords a little transitionally but the prices will have to drop.
It doesn't have to go to squatting freeloaders just more sane rent prices instead of the norm where people had been using 50% of their income to pay rent
The article discusses a drop in contracts because people have been unable to view properties in person during the last few months. It doesn’t postulate a drop in property values. It is too early to tell where the prices are headed.
If the NYPD weren't being defunded, I feel they would shut that down real quick. However, I can see a CHAZ/CHOP happening in the Lower East Side or Brooklyn. Unlike Seattle, I think New York residents who didn't ask to be invaded will put up a good fight. You know those Puerto Rocks, Italians Dominicans ain't having it. Even the Jews won't have it, if it happens around their neighborhoods. Heck, even the Blacks won't be having it, depending on where it's located.
