Monahan doesn't really care about the safety of NYPD officers. He is nothing more than part of the failed leadership of the city and he would definitely NOT protect officers who get into trouble. Monahan is the same guy who fired Pantaleo. If I were a regular police officer, I'd do the bare minimum. Your family is more important than getting in trouble over some random fatherless thug POS lowlife in the hood.

"In response to Monahan’s CompStat outburst, the president of the Detectives Endowment Association, Paul DiGiacomo, said, “By no means are narcotics detectives afraid of doing their jobs.”

“They’re afraid of the lack of support from the district attorneys and elected officials who enacted these irresponsible laws,” DiGiacomo said.

This is the reason why you have the most experienced and the best of the best leaving the job. Chances of them ever coming back is 0.0000001%. I hope those rookies learned what they can before these senior officer bail out.

When crime spills over into the "gentrified" areas, I am going to enjoy watching those hipster punks scream in fear. These two-faced types always go with BLM, until they get mugged or as they themselves say "quality of life" issues start to affect their areas. They most certainly will learn a hard lesson.

Yesterday was my last day on the job. I'm sitting at my desk now cleaning everything out, checking city-data from "work" one last time.

I got a nice email from my boro chief congratulating me on retirement. He included the list from yesterday when I filed. There were 27 regular retirements, 2 resignations and 3 disability retirements. From what I can tell, I was the junior of the regular retirements. So that means 27 experienced - in some cases VERY experienced officers - left in one day of their own volition. I don't know what other days have looked like lately, but it can't be good. The upper management has to be getting worried about this brain drain. If it continues, they will have no one with experience to fill the important spots.

Oh boy...27...that’s like 1000 times more. Normally I consider 1 or 2 experienced officer off the job is pretty devastating. If this trend keeps on going, soon NYPD may look like they have no clue of what they are doing. I can only wish the best for those new cops. Is going to be a bumpy road, real bumpy, like roller coaster.

Sigh...The future of NYC is not looking good at all.

Appeasement has never worked in history. Cowards who appease mobs, thugs and dictators do not end well. Bullies love appeasers, bullies know that an appeaser will never fight back. Monahan surrendered to the mobs because he tried to score cheap political points. He lost. He´s a loser.

Enjoy your retirement! My neighbor also recently retired from the NYPD. His timing was perfect. I don't know how the NYPD works but hope that cops with seniority who have 5 or 6 years left are transferring to S.I. where we appreciate them.
