Hamill is a legendary writer and columnist. I remember when I was living in Manhattan in the late '60s, I used to buy the afternoon NY Post just to read his columns.
At that time, the Post had the best columnists and commentators in the city: Pete Hamill, Jimmy Breslin, James A. Wechsler, Leonard Lyons, Max Lerner, Earl Wilson and others. Hamill was the last one. Not to be duplicated. RIP
