FYI...though some on the list aren't really, technically bodegas (I remember that bodega debate thread a few years back).

The post gentrification bodegas are actually pretty nice

It's amazing what a more affluent neighborhood demographic makes bodega owners do to fix their stores up to appeal to the newcomers.

I remember many years ago I was staying with a friend and the nearest bodega never had any items on the shelf. They never restocked. I said something going on there. A few months later I was at my own place in a different neighborhood and she calls to tell me I was right. The place was busted. It was a front store

The thing that I loved most about NYC bodegas were the subs. They were always among the best of the best in my experience.
