Lucky them.

The Bronx’s Lehman College and the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) were each given a $30 million gift from author and philanthropist Mackenzie Scott.

Over the last four months, Scott has donated a total of $4,158,500,000 to 384 nonprofits and educational institutions which would directly help those being negatively affected by the novel coronavirus pandemic. Scott, who is the ex-wife of the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos, is the third-richest woman in the world with an estimated net worth of $55.1 billion, according to Forbes.

She gets a huge tax break and the schools will use the money for pet projects sports teams and basically blow it all on nonsense. Nome of this money will help actual students. Its end of year and last minute donations have to get in for tax purposes.

Anyone remember when zuckerburg gave 100 million to Newark schools? Exactly. Aint a damn thing changed.

60 mill can pay for lots of scholarships for those who are cut out for it. That would make actual changes.

Except it wouldn't due to cuny being dumbed down over the years. Zuckerberg's newark donation disappeared and is unaccounted for from what I remember.

$100 is barely anything. Those $600 stimulus checks are barely anything, tbh. In the midst of a world wide pandemic that prompted the economic crisis we're all in.

Good for the CUNY schools who received them! I went to a top SUNY, and it was a good education I received.

That's great! I'm happy for those schools and hope they use the money well.

i love when people talk about tax write offs without even remotely understanding them.
it's also funny you think cuny spends a lot of money on sports teams.

Good for her...but at the same time she is the world’s all time award winner for hitting the jackpot. Her full time “job” can be giving away her money, saving a few hundred million for her and her kids.
