^^ artist, Sanford Biggs (pictured in above photo) speaks on video three pics down

The 7.6m tall black “Oracle” with a huge head joins murals, flags and videos at the venue, all created by African American artist Sanford Biggers, whose artwork also includes music and performance.

Biggers has said the sculpture “is a combination of the body of Zeus and a face and head from different regions and sculptures of Africa”. Many have incorrectly assumed it's a depiction of “African culture” and have blasted the artist over this.

This messaging appears to have been lost in translation, as many were offended by the use of African imagery to depict the head, labelling it racist and urging the center to take down the sculpture. Many have questioned if there aren't any more appropriate African artworks from which he could've drawn inspiration and raised issue with another flawed characterization of African mythology and art by an American.

lots of youtube videos ridiculing this

to tell you the truth, I like it. It's funny. I don't see it as a racist stereotype, just kind of goofy

Excerpt: This messaging appears to have been lost in translation

Response: Opinion
I find it comical.
It reminds me of a very old clean but dry joke .

Son: Daddy. Do I have a big head?
Father : No son. You don't have a big head.

as the person telling the joke outstretches his arm while making a huge imaginary circle.

That thing is so ugly I wish I had one of the Infinity Gems to enable me to grow to the size of roughly the Met Life Building, so I could drop trow and squat down over that "statue" and squeeze out a big ol' dook log, hopefully toppling it and submerging it in turd sauce...

...because that would make that ridiculous caricature look better.
