A limestone is better to have than a brownstone. They facade is sturdier. Many brownstone facades flake and crack. I read somewhere that there was such a demand for the brownstone at one time that the quarries did not let it cure properly before selling it. Brick with brownstone trim is nice too.

Wow. Does that mean a demolition is probable? Anyone with engineering knowledge here?

‘Disturbing' Video Emerges in Case of MTA Bus Crash Into Brownstone That Hurt 16 People

Footage from inside the bus in the moments preceding the crash shows the bus driver attempting to pull an emergency air brake so that he could adjust his seat and his belongings: a bag by the windshield and another one by his feet.

The driver first crashed into a red vehicle and then pulled to the left, sending him crashing into a brownstone. The bus is still partially inside that building as the investigation continues.

If something crashes into your building you definitely want a government owned vehicle like an MTA bus to do it. Bottomless pockets (at taxpayer expense) and eagerness to settle

Well, I'm impressed by the tank-like strength of the bus anyway.

I'm not an engineer, but with an accident like this, there is always a possibility that the building might have to be be demolished; the damage incurred may be unrepairable. Depends on what the inspection reveals.

Everyone is talking about the building and the bus, but what the heck was that driver on that he made such a mistake?

Depends on the damage. If its really structural, and if its really bad, most likely.
A regular car crashed into a two story house a few blocks away from me in Brooklyn. The house was vacated. They ended up demolishing the whole house one year later.

Insurance payout will be huge, which provides option of rebuilding something more valuable. But repairing that damage is very doable
