For those of you who knew who she was, this is really awesome. Great journalist and human being who died way too soon.

Yes, it's nice. But I miss her so much that I flinch every time I hear her name. Also, let's face it - she didn't get the park as recognition for her work. She got it because she's a black woman. I wish there were more recognition for her for being wonderful, with no hint of race.

And I wish so much she had been around to light our way through the last four years.

I think we all miss her terribly and wish she had been around to help us navigate the last four years, but I think she is getting the park because she is black AND in recognition of her many, many contributions during her career. I think you underestimate how well respected she was.

Judy didn't mention this last night during the Newshour, so I'm guessing she'll highlight it on Monday.

I don’t think of her as a New Yorker. Although she was born in Queens she seems to have spent most of her life elsewhere.

Like a lot of journalists do throughout the course of their careers. She was born in Queens so that’s where the park is.

And you felt compelled to tell us that? Meh.

She was an honored, well respected journalist. A lot of people do care.

Ifill was respected but she worked for a left leaning network, PBS, and thus is viewed by non-Democrats as partisan. Had she worked for FOX News I doubt a NYC park would be named after her.

Then we can expect a Rosanna Scotto park one day? She means much more to NYC news than Gwen Ifill ever did.

Well if that’s true her fans can get something named after her.
