I haven't ever been, but now I have an incentive.

And they're starting off with a good NYT review.

A Brooklyn Landmark Holds Its Head High Again
All buffed and polished from the gaslight-era chandeliers to the menu, Gage & Tollner is once again a compelling destination.

Blink. It’s really true. Gage & Tollner is back.
It’s not just the interior that shines now, though. Under St. John Frizell, Ben Schneider and Sohui Kim, who took over the lease in 2018 and brought the space back as an oyster and chop house, the whole restaurant radiates confidence, capability and relevance.

I was there a couple of times more than 20 years ago when I worked in downtown Brooklyn. Nice atmosphere but very expensive. It was close to the court house so a lot of lawyers went there. Too rich for my blood. For a great meal just a couple of blocks away I went to Mr. Souvlaki on Montague St.

This is definitely on my list of places to check out, it's just down the street from me. I might try going July 4 weekend when a lot of people go out of town, I usually do pretty well as a solo walk in if I'm willing to eat at the bar.
