Was Giuliani a registered Democrat when he became Mayor? I dont think so...
So basically, depending on the news source numbers differ.
Also what was not previously mentioned in this thread is the number of registered democrats who switched to independent.

I agree, however, it looks like Eric Adams would be/could be some kind of buffer in the middle. He was a registered republican for a few years and if I'm not mistaken with the conservative party as well.
Also, I believe he played the race card "look I was brutalized by NYPD as a black man then decided to join the forces to change the department from the inside" to draw the votes of the people (especially black votes) who are too shy to say loud and clear they want more police (because now you're apparently "alt-right" if you say so) yet too affected by the dismantling of the anti crime unit and the removal of stop-and-frisk.

Weak candidate? Maybe, on what aspect though? Safety? Affordable housing? A little bit of everything?

Well, I was reading that there was an organized effort to try to get non-affiliated, third party and Republican voters to switch to Democrat before June's Primary. If that worked out for the Dems gaining 88K, I dont personally feel its enough - but it might be.

I guess a lot depends on how much New Yorkers are fed up with crime, and/or how much they totally hate Curtis Sliwa.

If New Yorkers find crime to be a pressing issue, I think Sliwa has a good shot - just like Giuliani did back in the day.

FYI - I cant really say Im personally pro-anyone. I dont even know who won the Democratic election yet because we went with some 'crazy card trick' for our primary election process this year, that I am told I voted for.

Well, it is true that the democratic party was battling to have people switch over.
However many many many New Yorkers put how they would be seen by their peers over how they really feel about safety.
I also read an article mentioning people living in Greenwich Village, fed up with the nightly ruckus, were sucking it up over their progressive values (calling the cops would've been seen as less progressive and I guess they don't want anyone to find out.... you know cancel culture, accusation of all sorts....).

I don't think Sliwa has any chance of winning the election (just my opinion).
