Was walking up Third Avenue Wednesday and noticed the new Whole Foods between 87th and 88th Streets is coming along nicely. Signs in the window say opening day will be 18 February 2015.

Cannot wait! Now can stop having to go down to 57th Street or stop into the Union Square location when down that way. If we could get a Trader Joe's on the UES that would be lovely as well.

Wonder if having competition literally a few blocks away will make the Fairway on 86th drop their prices. It is going to be interesting to see if that place is still a mad house once Whole Foods opens.

Now I don't get that, not at all. There is a big and huge park (Central Park) just several blocks away made for bike riding in the fresh open air. But no those people would rather be packed together like sardines in a nasty and sweaty room and ride a bike that goes nowhere. I just don't get it.

Remember that space when it was a bar for years.

Was going across Houston Street (west to east) last week and was amazed to see they had a WF down there. Had no idea.

One is being built right now on 125th Street in Harlem. They say it will be the largest Whole Foods in the country, sq foot wise.

What in the hell is BoCoCa?

The only thing I could think of was Boerum Hill/Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens, but I used to live there, and no one calls it that, and, anyways, there's no Whole Foods in those neighborhoods.

I'm guessing the Bo is for Bowery, going by Bugsy's response about going by the Bowery Whole Foods but no clue what the CoCa stands for. Anyway, for the rest of us, it's the LES.

Getting back to the topic at hand, I am looking forward to the UES Whole Foods, so much more convenient to the office, now I can pop down there to grab lunch either on the way to the office or at lunch time itself. And easier to pick up a few things on the way home. Fairway will still be crowded, the Chelsea Fairway is a block from Whole Foods and both are usually very crowded.

We bussed by the WF all lit up late last night and I said to DH gleefully. "All they need now is the food."

Oh, Wednesday is going to be NUTS...I hope they offer some freebies, like wine and cheese?

(Look for some BIG Fairway sales next week.)

See you at the grand opening on Wednesday, Bugsy.

For BoCoCa I will go with Bowery Colossally far from Canal?

(Yeah, we recently discovered that Southern Whole Foods waiting for the bus after the NEW MUSEUM. Didn't have time to go in for fear of missing the rare M103 bus.)
