Unfortunately Curtis is a Republican. Whatever I might have thought about it before, it’s a ruined brand now in my eyes.

Curtis is in fact non-partisan. He is running as an Independent in adition to running as a Republican. If it is possible to run for multiple parties, I wonder why he didn't go whole hog, and ran as a Democrat too? It would have been very Curtis-like to run as a Republican, Democrat, and Independent all at the same time :-). This way, it's kind of less obvious to Democrats that he represents their interests just as much as anyone else's (with the exception of crime interests). If Republicans are a "ruined brand" for you, vote for him as an Independent (there will be two places where you can vote for him in the ballot - you don't have to vote for him as a Republican).

The other Republican primary candidate was Fernando Mateo

he was a major fundraiser for President George W. Bush, who named him to the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. In 2004, he spoke at the Republican National Convention. In 2005, Mateo served as Hispanic Director for the re-election campaign of then-New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

In 2012, Mateo supported Texas Governor Rick Perry's presidential campaign, organizing a fundraiser for Perry in Manhattan's Inwood neighborhood.

Yet neither Mateo or Sliwa have held government office. I think Republicans just had a "whatever" attitude about who would be the next mayor of New York thinking that it would be impossible since NYC is only about 10% Republican

But as the primaries approached there was also an increasing crime surge, even brazen shootings on Times Square
Giuliani had a successful win running on this one issue only, crime
And the crime was surge seemed to have been a significant factor for a win for Eric Adams who made it a more of a priority in his campaign than the other Democratic candidates (in additional to a lot of union support) and he also had political office experience as well as having been a police officer.

But there also had been some other Republicans who were vying for the office but did not get enough votes
  • Abbey Laurel-Smith, businesswoman
  • Adam Oremland, attorney and social media personality
  • Bill Pepitone, retired NYPD officer (since changed the Conservative Party)
  • Sara Tirschwell, CFO of Foundation House

Curtis Trump is a typical Republican in a debate - personal attacks, nothing of substance, dodging the accusations of him making up stories to get publicity - with the moderator constantly having to cut him off because he drifted 100 miles away from the topic. He trails by about 40 percentage points in the polls, and it's not hard to see why.

this is what he said in late March, he seemed to have softened about it since earlier remarks in 2020.

Adams got like 250,000 votes in the primary. Did Sliwa even get 50k? I don't even think its numerically possible for Sliwa to win, maybe that's why Eric Adams looked 'scripted', he didn't have to say anything, like that time Vice President Biden was on a debate stage with Sarah Palin.

You can't just declare yourself the Republican or Democrat candidate. You actually have to win the primary.

Sliwa will win the old school nyer vote, all of them.

Adam's will get most all Caribbean and west indies, just cause they can finally have one of theirs own top. Most city workers will vote for Adam's too. It's still a tough call...

Stop and frisk , I dont believe in it. Too much room for abuse. Just keeping on with the same MO, fill the cells, keep the jobs and economy moving. Believe most all the people that want yo keep their jobs in city law want the same. No prisoners, no jobs,no ot... get it?

What this city needs is a program to spread out nyers in need, to upstate communities . Offer an incentive to move them families out the jungle. Clean plate is all most people need.

Couldn't watch the debate, but just might sit through it now.

Sliwa still looks like he works in BK, with that dumb sss hat on. Where are the pins???

And Adam's, with stiff, square persona... oh brothers, he's too normal, like a goody too shoes with skeletons in the closet. Aka ,Carlton , just waiting to see if he can dance like a nyer???

So, burgers to go verzus carlton the 3rd.... coming to a android near you...
