Wow! it's a legal 3-family building with a huge 2-car garage. Might be worth the $1.99M just for the 2-car garage. Constructed around 1910 but city records can be unclear about the actual date.

I don't care one way or another about the exterior. But look at those interiors! They really knew how to build 'em back in the day! Big windows for light, beautiful woodwork, high ceilings, nice fireplaces, spacious rooms. The fact that there are two 4-br apts. in that building boggles the mind. (And because of those big apartments, it's a bargain at that price, IMO.)

The interiors are a work of art. The exterior looks like someone did some work on the Victorian original at some point, to give it a castle look.

I looooooove older homes and that was one of my criterias for buying mine. My dream would be to buy a late and update 1800's or early 1900's Victorian. The biggest problem with these home (which I am starting to realize) is that everything is over 100 years old and will need to be replaced. The plumbing, electrical and even the heating system on these houses will need to be updated. Those steam pipes are a ticking time bomb. Working on an older home is a lot more challenging than an newer home. I recently had to replace a lead bend toilet flange. Just finding the right PVC connectors took several weeks as I had to go to multiple home depots, not to mention everything is in a hard to reach & tight spot. Very exhausting work.
That is the biggest draw about buying older homes, they're beautiful, but the life systems are outdated and you will have to upgrade them at some point, in some case you may have to alter the home to make things work. Imagine if you wanted solar power on this bad boy...

It's got 3 apartments, 2 staircases and is asking almost 2 million. I don't know if that's insane or reasonable.

Would you want to live there if you could afford it? I would...

Overlooking the Hudson?

That's a fish tank...

I'm around there passing through on the way to Inwood from time to time, and it's seemed alright. But it's between the highway and that big hill, so it's kind of an unusual location. But the metro north is close, and so is Manhattan, and Target! But for me, it's not the area I'd pick. Anyone living there would get in shape fast if they weren't already lol.

I think 1910 is like the default date of construction when they don't actually know. It's likely earlier I'd think.

Well you're not getting that in the city with the highest population density in the USA so there goes that one
