Did anyone do the virtual tour? It's a maze! It doesn't look like the top 2 apartments have total privacy though. It looks like if you close all the doors to the hallway (next to the stairwell) on the 3rd floor apartment, you need to go through the bathroom to get from one side to the other. The top floor is a duplex but kind of has the same kind of issues. You'd need to trust your neighbors I guess.
Thanks, I think it's really cool too. I imagine it was built for one really rich family back in the day, with a big staff of course. The house next door looks like it would be cool on the inside too. If you look at the streetview though, there are a decent amount of Fedders on the block - it's a shame. Although not a terrible location really.

Yeah, I was thinking that this would be suitable for extended family living. Or, if one had the cash, convert it to a huge 1 family.

Are you familiar with the area? How is it? This is a part of the Bronx I know very little about. I don't think I've ever been to this area to be honest.

I actually would like to know as well as that is a very cool house. Is that area safe? That block might be ok but it's close to some not so nice areas.
I looooooove older homes and that was one of my criterias for buying mine. My dream would be to buy a late and update 1800's or early 1900's Victorian. The biggest problem with these home (which I am starting to realize) is that everything is over 100 years old and will need to be replaced. The plumbing, electrical and even the heating system on these houses will need to be updated. Those steam pipes are a ticking time bomb. Working on an older home is a lot more challenging than an newer home. I recently had to replace a lead bend toilet flange. Just finding the right PVC connectors took several weeks as I had to go to multiple home depots, not to mention everything is in a hard to reach & tight spot. Very exhausting work.
