That's not the point. The violations just highlight the problem. They want local control so they can install more cameras because according to the article, the presence of cameras have reduced the number of crashes.

Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez said, "Our automated enforcement programs save lives: data shows traffic injuries drop where we install these cameras.
I know someone who got 2 speeding tickets recently from the red light violations bureau. Their claim is that the speed limit had just changed/been reduced and the camera caught them as they were reducing their speed.
No matter what I agree these cameras are placed to get as much as possible for the city.
Traffic cameras are nothing but a money grubbing scam for the city. Drivers should just figure out ways to destroy them.

When you artificially lower the speed limit to 25 MPH when you know full well that is unrealistic, then you basically turn every car into a speeding one.
