The "wild west" is a very poor analogy.

In the wild west, all parties carried guns. It was possible for anyone to defend against an attack since both parties were legally armed. Criminals could expect to be shot at by victims.

NY subways are "gun free zones".

Attackers know that they are surrounded by defenseless sheep. Except for the few professional MMA fighters or black belts who can defend themselves with their bare fists, the rest of the people have been declawed.

Imagine a field full of declawed cats while a dog is set loose on them. That is what you have in the subways.

The only solution is CCW and allowing people to stand their ground. Yes, the death rate would be up for a few months, and then the crime rate would plunge. As long as NYC is one big "gun free zone", the armed criminal wolves will alway have a huge herd of sheep (normal law abiding peolpe) to prey upon.

This isn't rocket science. The criminal thugs know that they are the only ones in NYC that are armed. They know they are not being prosecuted for it today. What is stop them? Not a thing.

Add in all of the mentally ill drug addicts who can't hold down a job or rent an apartment so they hang out on subways and on platforms, and you have New York City 2022.

Keep voting Democrat, folks. See what happens.

Neither of those guys--Warren Wilhelm, Jr., or Officer Addams Family--remotely resembles Rudy Giuliani.
Rudy was mission-oriented, he was smart, and what he did worked.

which is exactly why these fools should have kept the same policies....
obviously what they are doing is not working.

I so totally agree

He definitely got hit in artery.

Also, maybe blast music at home or in your own headphones. No one wants to hear your crap.
Ok this bit of crime might be ok

You are correct. It is inconsiderate and low brow to be blasting music in public places. Parents should teach that early on.

Looks like he will learn the lesson now. Dumb bastard.

I agree in part.

Most people are defenseless on the subway
but there are many carpenters, electricians, plumbers, mechanics that are good people who board the train
with an arsenal of simple craftsmen tools they carry from job to job that can just as easily be used for self defense.

I can only imagine the look of surprise on the face of a would be mugger
when one of these blue collar workers pulls out a screwdriver, a hammer
or a monkey wrench to defend himself or a passenger from being victimized.

Carrying a hammer on you would help out significantly in a bad situation.

Yeah but you better know what you’re doing. A nutjob on drugs can take it away from you and use it against you!

It is more complicated when people aren't held accountable for their behavior.

If you thought Adams was going to come in and clean up eight years of de Blasio's mess, I have a bridge to see you, and even with me voting for Sliwa, I don't think he would've been much better simply because of the obstacles with Bail Reform and a police department that has been attacked (literally and figuratively). It will take a while to fix what is broken, and unfortunately it may not happen during Adams' term.

Never understood why people listen to music on public transit without headphones. And worse is music with explicit lyrics. You'd have to be a psychopath to do it. Which is why it's so hard to identify a dangerous psychopath since so many people behave like one.

I usually give these folks a few dirty looks but not sure it has any effect. I also have never seen conductors on Metro North train enforce it .
