Wrong. You can easily avoid garbage on park Avenue. How do I know? Because I work there. Broadway the best street over is an open space for people to walk and sit

Which part of Park? It's a long street.
I am on Park quite a bit uptown, above 110th st, and there's plenty of garbage there.
Maybe in the tourist parts of park near midtown there's no garbage, but who wants to go there besides tourists?
There are a countless amount of Manhattan neighborhoods and areas to walk around "free of weirdos and garbage." The West Village, East Village, Tribeca, Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Soho, the list goes on and on.
Agreed, Chicago's downtown does appear cleaner in many areas, and it does appear more "scenic" in terms of aesthetic. But you have to remember that Chicago is a whole lot smaller than New York City.
You're comparing Chicago with 2.7 million people, to a city with 8.6 million people. A large city with Chicago, to a huge city with NYC. Also, Chicago has higher crime overall than NYC, and is more dangerous, but the crime-ridden areas seem to be isolated in Chicago, on the whole.
BTW, what is the definition of a "weirdo" by the OP, anyway? It sounds like the OP may just not be a good fit for a very large city like New York.
I think its weird that New York thinks as filth as part of its charm!!!
Panhandlers are almost everywhere in a soulless Capitalist economy. So. if you don't want to part with a buck, then follow the advice of the monstrous Nancy Reagan and "Just Say NO."
