The last time I needed glasses was studying hard in college, I couldn't afford glasses. Luckily I didn't get glasses and eventually may vision problems resolved itself once I'm done with college exams. If the OP needed glasses, there are ways to improve vision slowly without glasses. Once you gotten glasses, your vision will never get better.

I've heard of strenthening exercises for the eyes. Andrew Huberman has an episode on this but I haven't listened to it yet. I'm skeptical that it actually works that well but to be fair I haven't tried. My eyesight is not great
I already suggested SUNY optometry. I will reiterate. You will be treated by actual MD DOCTORS - not opticians trying to sell you eyeglasses to make a commission. This means real Opthalmologists and Optometrists will examine your eyes. The only drawback is you have to sit there while a gaggle of med students ask questions of the doctors. They also have an eyeglasses store but it's supplemental to their mandate.
It suddenly occurs to me, given the OP's situation, why would people recommend Costco, which is a sprawling chaotic zoo, and not easy to navigate for someone with seriously bad eyesight? And it will likely require more travel. Surely a nice small local shop is preferable, where maybe she'll develop a relationship and, after all, the quality is generally the same all over.
Warby Parker. Not that the price is super cheap, but the service is great. If you don't like your glasses for ANY reason they replace them no questions asked. They are also friendly when it comes to adjustments. They might be easier to get to then Costco.
