There are always lists of New York novels, classics dating 'way back, and new ones all the time.
But I just read something I thought was particularly fun:
Tepper Isn't Going Out
By Calvin Trillin
https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/b...alvin-trillin/
It's basically a short, funny book about a guy who has been parking his car and just sitting in it, reading the newspaper. No one quite understands this, but his wife and friends wonder if it's some odd obsession, especially as he rattles off parking regulations for all the different locations. Maybe you're already familiar with Calvin Trillin (I love him!) but if not, he's a humorist, and this is a book full of low-key deadpan New Yorky humor.
