In case you missed it...a great article on cool new stuff in and around the Bronx, primarily in Mott Haven and Concourse (Yankee Stadium area).

Weekend in New York - The Bronx Is More Than Just Yankee Stadium - NYTimes.com

Enjoy!

Guy you can post all these new amenities and happenings in the south Bronx but the fact is nothing has really changed. You still have the massive amount of housing projects and the bad tenement blocks. And by the way, most if not all the articles you're going to post are going to have a positive outlook on the Bronx just because realtors and other people are going to promote it. They want to change demographics. But you and I know that, that is far from the truth. Maybe 15 years from now but 2008 is no different than 2003 is no different than 1999.

Wildstyle your link does not work! SuperWario...you are welcome to continue the naysaying and doing what you can to keep people away. I do not doubt that for you, 2008 is the same as 1998 is the same as 1988...but for alot of people..the Bronx has and is changing dramatically.

And for the record this article is not stating anything that is not true. All of these new venues, amenities, and attractions are here, successful, and catering to a new class of people that continue to move in, as well as those in the neighborhood that can enjoy decent amenities without having to leave the community. I do not in anyway imply that the Bronx is some sort of Utopia, but clearly when good sushi is being served in Mott Haven things have changed dramatically..and they will continue to improve going forward.

But for what? Most people in Mott Haven live in poverty. As a result alot of them turn to drug dealing. You really think that the residents that are already there are going to enjoy the amenities? Nobody is going to travel from Manhattan, BK, or Queens just to eat sushi in Mott Haven. So its not really helping anybody. Mott Haven has a ****load of crime and is the POOREST CD in the country. By the way you post you make it seem like you're talking about the UWS. I could care less about all those articles. Their job is to say the positive. If I wanted too I could post all the homicides and violent crime in the south Bronx in 2008. You're not fooling anybody(except Wild Style lol).

Nobody argues about the problems that plague NYC...but why do you dismiss the changes that are occuring in the area? If you do not believe that residents are enjoying these amenities as much as the new people, then you have never stepped foot in any of these places...as it is a good cross section of newbies and locals. Futhermore, it is not about anyone traveling to Mott Haven for sushi..it's about the locals, (transplants and locals) having another venue to enjoy, and not just the typical fast food...and everyone is happy to have the option.

Instead of being negative about the new businesses and amenities, you should embrace the new offerings for the community...you may actually enjoy it if you gave it half a chance. Nonetheless, as a local, I along with many other locals, are enjoying the new options, and it is indicative of a change..sushi in Mott Haven..who knew!

And it is just the tip of the iceberg...more good amenities are on the way...like Target, Marshalls, Best Buy, and some national restaurant chains as well!
